Report: Other AEW Talents Recently Asked For Their Release

Could more AEW releases be on the way?

Malakai Black wasn't the only AEW talent who recently asked for their release.

The former NXT Champion confirmed last week that he asked for his release from AEW, which reportedly came after WWE reached out to him about returning to the company. AEW initially rejected the request but it is believed Black has since been granted a highly-conditional release that would prevent him from performing for WWE until the non-compete expires.

WWE reached out to several AEW talents about a return to the company along with Black and Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that "Black was not the only person to ask for his release at the time." Who else asked for their release is currently unknown, however.

Other talents WWE reached out to explained they were happy in All Elite Wrestling and the wrestlers ended up getting in touch with AEW management. This prompted AEW's legal team headed by Megha Parekh to send a letter to WWE about contract tampering in August.
