Report: Tamina Was Booked To Defeat Nikki A.S.H On WWE Raw

A botched finish leads to the wrong victor

WWE placed a spotlight on the women's tag team division on the September 13 edition of Monday Night Raw as champions Tamina and Natalya competed in singles matches against Nikki A.S.H and Rhea Ripley.

The finish of the Tamina vs. Nikki A.S.H match appeared to be botched on Monday, though. A.S.H connected with a Tornado DDT after four minutes and even though Tamina got her shoulder up in time, the official counted the 1-2-3 to give Nikki the win.

Confusion reigned supreme soon after as the ring announcer announced Tamina as the winner and the women's tag team champion's music played in the arena even though A.S.H was the Superstar celebrating inside TD Garden.

According to Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, the finish of the match was indeed botched and Tamina was originally booked to defeat A.S.H. The official was supposed to only call a two-count but he failed to spot Tamina's kick out and "called it like a shoot."

"Tamina was supposed to win that match. That's why the ring announcer said the winner, 'Tamina.' If you watch when the match ended it was Tamina's music that played, not Nikki's music, and the ring announcer got the wrong call. What happened was the ref botched the call. Tamina kicked out and the ref did not see her kick out and called it like a shoot... She totally kicked out. The ref backstage just said, 'I didn't see it' and was apologetic and everything like that. But it was the ref's fault, he did blow the call," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio

Following the match, Tamina attacked Nikki from behind and Rhea Ripley would score a victory over Natalya after an 11-minute contest.
