Report: Triple H Recently Received "A Quiet Demotion" In WWE

The prevailing belief in professional wrestling for a number of years has been that when Vince McMahon steps away from WWE, his daughter Stephanie McMahon and his son-in-law Triple H will take over the running of the company. 

Some doubt has been cast on this belief, however, as Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Cerebral Assassin received "a quiet demotion" recently. WWE did confirm Triple H's corporate title had changed to Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development from Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative. 

What this means in practice, according to Meltzer, is The Game is no longer negotiating with WWE talent and his main duties now solely involve producing NXT, selling the black and gold brand's TV rights overseas and creating more subsidiaries of NXT, similar to NXT UK. Talent relations is now handled by Vince McMahon's Chief Of Staff Brad Blum, ultimately enhancing The Boss's influence when it comes to the type of Superstars WWE signs and retains.

Meltzer penned: "Levesque was the head of talent relations, his main job, but also oversaw many other departments in his role as EVP of Talent, Live Events and Creative. So he was moved away from being in charge of talent and his main duties are now NXT, selling NXT TV rights overseas and expanding NXT globally. Brad Blum, Vince McMahon’s Chief of Staff, took over Levesque’s other duties as Executive Vice President of Operations, overseeing the divisions Levesque was formerly overseeing. It’s a change. There are those internally and externally who have called it a quiet demotion. The labeling of his new title gives the impression that he’s the guy negotiating with talent, but that is one of the things he was removed from doing. Mark Carrano no longer reports to Levesque and now reports to Blum."
