Report: WWE Hoping To Run Test Live Events This Summer

WWE is reportedly looking to begin the process of allowing a live crowd back into shows with test events, that they hope can begin in the summer. 

The promotion have only been able to permit fans to attend one event since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, when 25,000 seats were sold for both nights of WrestleMania 37 at the start of April. After that successful operation, attention now turns to resuming a full touring schedule, with live fans at every event. 

WWE President Nick Khan has previously stated that the company don't want to enter a situation where they have to start and then stop again, and will consider themselves back on the road permanently when the time finally comes. 

PWInsider is reporting that the first step of that process will be for WWE to hold a number of test events that sees live crowds returning to a select few events. 

The plan would be to hold these events in either July or August. It is noted that these plans are in very early development stage and would be subject to the national situation regarding coronavirus, as well as the laws and guidelines within the respective host cities. 

WWE is apparently paying extremely close attention to how numerous 'waves' of the coronavirus pandemic have played out in different countries across the world in order to get an idea of how the virus operates as restrictions are increased or relaxed. The promotion is determined to make the best informed decision they can when it comes to returning to live attendance at events again.
