Rey Mysterio Not Planning To Wrestle Beyond 50

Three more years of Rey Mysterio?

WWE celebrated Rey Mysterio on the 20-year anniversary of his WWE debut on Monday's episode of Raw from Madison Square Garden. The Mysterios picked up a win over Judgment Day on the show but Rey's joy ended soon after as he was attacked backstage by the heel faction. A No DQ match was then booked for SummerSlam on July 30 pitting The Mysterios against Finn Balor and Damian Priest.

While he has spent many years in WWE, Mysterio has been performing inside the squared circle since 1992. The 47-year-old is ultimately entering the twilight of his career but Mysterio revealed to Ariel Helwani of BT Sport that he wants to wrestle for three more years. He doesn't plan to wrestle past 50, however.

"It's funny because they don't prep you up now like they do for NFL players. For wrestling, I've always heard from others that they just go until they can't anymore. There's really no start and end date. You just run through it until you can't or until you step away to do something else," Rey said.

"For me, now that I'm getting closer to my fifties and I see my son wrestling, I tell myself that I wanna go three more years and I don't wanna go past 50. But then I remind myself, what if I feel good. Can you still go another year? As of right now, my date has always been to not go over 50."
