Rising Star Set To Make AEW Debut Later This Year

An exciting AEW debut is set for later this year

All Elite Wrestling are finally set to debut one of the most exciting young stars on the American independent scene later this year, with Nick Wayne set to make his long-awaited bow on the July 12 edition of AEW Dynamite.

On July 12 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Wayne will clash with Swerve Strickland for the third time in his career, with the two having fought two times in previously DEFY - Wayne defeating Swerve for the DEFY Championship on April 8 in Seattle.

After dropping the title to Wayne at DEFY, Strickland announced he wants a rematch in AEW, with the match set to go down days after Wayne’s 18th birthday.  The match will be non-title.

A third generation star, Wayne is the son of the late Buddy Wayne who served as trainer and mentor to AEW’s Darby Allin, with Allin officially handing Nick a contract at a DEFY show in February 2022. Wayne was signed to an AEW deal at just 16 years old, with the proviso that Wayne finish school and turn 18 before officially joining the company.
