Road Dogg Comments On WWE Release

He was let go on Wednesday

WWE's shake-up of NXT continued on January 5 and several key members of staff within the developmental brand and at the Performance Center were released on Wednesday, including the likes of William Regal, Timothy Thatcher, Scott Armstrong, Danny Burch, Dave Kapoor and 'Road Dogg' Brian James.

While the wrestling world has reacted to the cuts, Road Dogg issued a short statement on Facebook following his release, writing: "Guys, I'm doing well and I thank you for all the love. I'm gonna take a few days for my self and process this. God is still on the throne and will provide. It's just business!"

After previously performing as a WWE Superstar, primarily between 1994 and 2001, James started working behind-the-scenes in WWE from 2014. He was initially a part of the creative team and he worked as the head writer of SmackDowm from 2016 until after WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

Road Dogg then transitioned to NXT as a producer and he remained with the developmental brand until his release this week.

The latest WWE releases were reportedly done to remove Triple H's hires from the developmental brand and Road Dogg's firing was seen as a key part of this, with him and William Regal being perceived as "Triple H Guys".
