SPOILER: New Champion Crowned In WWE

WWE crowned a new champion last night

Last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown emanated from the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, and at the tapings there were some matches held for WWE Speed. Spoilers for WWE Speed follow.

Ricochet won the WWE Speed Championship in a tournament final match that aired earlier last month, defeating Johnny Gargano to be crowned the inaugural champion. These matches air exclusively on the X platform, with Ricochet revealing that the exclusivity of the Speed concept is the reason why he has not been seen with the Speed Championship on official WWE programming. Thus far in his reign he has defeated Tyler Bate to successfully hold onto the gold, but as of last night he is no longer the champion.

After defeating Karl Anderson to earn a title match (which will air next week), Andrade took on Ricochet during last night’s SmackDown tapings. Andrade won the match, becoming the brand new WWE Speed Champion, making this his first title win since returning to WWE in January of this year. It isn’t known when exactly this match will air, but it will likely be the week after next based on the current taping schedule.
