Triple H: WWE's Next Generation Of Superstars Will Come Through The NIL Program

Triple H has disclosed more information about WWE's new NIL program, discussing the company's desire to build a clearer pathway for young athletes into the promotion. 

WWE revealed the 'Next In Line' program on Thursday, a scheme that will aim to enhance 'the talent development process' through collaborative partnerships with college athletes. Involved individuals will be given access to the WWE Performance Center and resources to help them develop their own skills in media work, live event production, creative writing and much more. 

Athletes that then complete the NIL program could earn a WWE contract.

WWE’s Executive Vice President of global talent strategy and development Paul 'Triple H' Levesque notes there has never been a clear path to joining WWE and the new program will create a pipeline into the WWE roster from school, much like the routes defined for basketball, American football and baseball.

Speaking to Fast Company, he said: "We immediately saw it as an amazing recruiting tool for us because it allows us to show athletes a path to WWE, and engage with them in a way where they can learn more about it, we can learn more about them, all while working together, and finding out if it’s a good fit before they’re even finished college, and before they need to make any decisions about what they’re going to do in that next stage of their life.

"The deals might range from the lower end, which would still help them make ends meet while at school. Of course, if you’re bringing an Olympic gold medal to the table, it’s a different conversation.

"It opens us up to a whole world of athletes that we’ve never been able to connect with in this way. For us, the next generation of superstars will come out of this program."
