WWE Japan Website To Shut Down

No more Japanese website

WWE's presence in the Japanese wrestling world continues to dwindle.

WWE Japan has announced their official website will be closing on September 24.

They issued the following statement (translated using DeepL):

"We regret to announce that the WWE Japan official website (wwe.co.jp) will be closed as of September 24th, 2021. We will continue to provide WWE information in Japanese via the following SNS accounts.

WWE Japanese Official Twitter

WWE Japanese Official Instagram

WWE Japanese Official Facebook

As a result of this, the contact point for enquiries in Japanese will also be closed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your understanding and patience.

Thank you very much for your patronage over the years.

We hope that you will continue to enjoy WWE."

It was reported earlier this month that WWE Japan investors had agreed to dissolve the company on September 1.

WWE previously had big ambitions in Japan as part of Triple H's "global localisation" strategy which would have seen NXT territories set up across the globe. Those plans ground to a halt once the COVID-19 pandemic began and plans were shelved after cost-cutting measures in April 2020.
