WWE References AEW Promo & Talent Releases On Raw

Some spice on Monday Night Raw

WWE added a hard dose of reality to a number of promo segments on the 29 November episode of Monday Night Raw, making reference to recent releases from the promotion and All Elite Wrestling.

The first nod to departed talent from WWE's roster came from Liv Morgan, who was speaking during her contract signing segment alongside Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch.

Addressing 'Big Time Becks', Morgan said: "You’re the reason why your friend is gone, just like the reason why your big, fat greedy contract is the reason why MY friends are gone. How does it feel knowing you’ve become everything you despised?"

Morgan's mention of her friends being gone wasn't the only time WWE made note of a recent release, as Edge cut a promo on The Miz later in the show, telling him he let his partner John Morrison get fired while off taking part on Dancing With The Stars.

Edge told Miz: "The biggest difference between you and I is that I fought with every fibre of my being to get this small window back. Where you...you used this to get notoriety to get your next endeavour, for your next reality show, for your dance competition...while you leave your partner high and dry to get fired!"

WWE have made substantial cuts to the talent roster over the last two years, with over 80 names being released during 2021.

Edge wouldn't just reference the releases, however, making note of how CM Punk and MJF made mention of The Miz during their recent, stellar promo battle on AEW Dynamite.

The Rated-R-Superstar added: "You have people on other shows saying your name just to get a cheap reaction. You live rent-free in a lot of heads."

It appears, for this show at least, WWE have given their talent more freedom to address topical and somewhat controversial happenings in their promos.
