WWE Talent Expect Shane McMahon To Appear In AEW

The meeting was talked about backstage at SummerSlam.

While WWE's roster had plenty to occupy themselves with at this past weekend's SummerSlam, the recent meeting between Shane McMahon and AEW CEO Tony Khan was apparently a topic of conversation.

According to a report by Fightful Select, there was some discussion among talent about the meeting (which took place on July 29). Fightful's report further noted that most people they spoke to are of the belief that Shane will end up making an appearance there.

While McMahon may end up making an appearance (or appearances) for AEW in the future, his initial meeting with Khan was revealed to be more of a 'getting to know you' exchange where they discussed wrestling.

Shane himself had issued a statement about the meeting, noting that they mostly talked about their shared love of the business.

Another report suggested that the 54-year-old former WWE European Champion has tried to return to the company his family once owned, but his interest has not been reciprocated.

One person who believes Shane would be an asset to AEW is Jim Ross. Addressing the news of the McMahon/Khan meeting and the potential of Shane becoming All Elite on his Grilling JR podcast, the legendary announcer said:

"That's pretty cool, actually. Shane, he could add a lot. He could do some physical things, within reason. He has great name identity. People know who he is. You don't have to stop and explain, 'Well now, this is Vince McMahon's son. This is Stephanie McMahon's brother. This is Linda McMahon's son'. All that stuff goes without saying. But if Tony [Khan's] an entrepreneur, and if he thought that Shane could help us in AEW, and if Shane thought he could have some fun, make a couple of paydays — I'm sure Shane is not in need of a significant cash influx — but [if] he wants to have fun and contribute. Look, the wrestling business is in Shane's blood. Where else does he go if he wants to stay in that vocation? Where else does he go?".

"I think he could help us in a lot of ways, strategically. As a TV character, obviously the main thing. So we'll just have to wait and see how that works out. I don't have any outstanding hope or any inside info that he's the guy, but he might be a new addition at some point in time. And if so, between both their creative abilities, it would be entertaining".
