WWE Trademark Ruthless Aggression
New merch could be on the way...
On Sunday, WWE premiered their new documentary series, Ruthless Aggression, on the WWE Network. The show has received mixed reviews so far, as many have praised its second episode which focusses on the rise of John Cena, but the debut episode has been criticised as WWE has again rewritten history.
During the first instalment, the company's rebranding from WWF to WWE is discussed, but is presented in such a way that it suggests it was solely Vince McMahon's idea because he thought the company needed a facelift. This is wholly untrue as WWF was forced to change its name due to an unfavourable ruling in the British Court Of Appeal in their dispute with The World Wildlife Fund.
WWE is seemingly looking to capitalise on the renewed interest in the era from the documentary as they trademarked "Ruthless Aggression" on February 11, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The trademark was filed for the purposes of entertainment services and merchandise, so fans can expect to see some throwback merch very soon.
The trademarks are as follows:
"IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fans; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely, blogs, in the field of sports entertainment."

G & S: Clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands; bandanas."
