2 Matches Added To NJPW Wrestle Grand Slam In MetLife Dome

Cobb vs. Okada II and more

With Wrestle Grand Slam in Tokyo Dome now in the rearview mirror, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has begun planning for the MetLife Dome and two more matches were added to the card today.

NJPW will return to the 33,000-seat stadium for two shows on September 4 and September 5 and the first night one matches have been revealed.

In a headline match, Kazuchika Okada will take on Jeff Cobb. The two men faced off at the Tokyo Dome on Sunday and while Okada came away with the victory, Cobb turned in an impressive performance against The Rainmaker. The United Empire man said following the match that he would be returning to the United States, but this turned out to be a lie as Cobb laid out Okada during yesterday's Summer Struggle show.

Also on the September 4 show is Chase Owens vs. Toru Yano for the KOPW 2021 Trophy. Owens became the new provisional champion on Sunday after he won the New Japan Ranbo With Handcuffs inside the Tokyo Dome. Now Toru Yano is out to reclaim the trophy he had held on to all year.

Three matches have also already been announced for the September 5 show. Dangerous Tekkers will defend the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship against Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI and Tetsuya Naito & SANADA. Hiromu Takahashi will also challenge Robbie Eagles for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title. In the main event, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi will square off with EVIL.
