Adam Cole Vs. Finn Balor NXT Title Match To Kick Off Wednesday's Show, Will Be Presented Commercial Free

Big year-ending match...

WWE announced Monday morning that the NXT championship match pitting Adam Cole against Finn Balor for this Wednesday night will not only open the broadcast, but will be presented commercial free.

This marks the second occasion in the show's USA Network era in which an NXT title match has kicked off a Wednesday night broadcast, and was also presented commercial free. The first was back on October 2, the first NXT vs. AEW Dynamite head-to-head, in which Cole retained his title over Matt Riddle.

Balor became the number one contender on last week's show, defeating Tommaso Ciampa and Keith Lee in a triple threat match. Balor pinned Lee after hitting him with the Coup de Grace.

Balor previously reigned for over nine months as NXT champion, defeating Kevin Owens for the gold in July 2015 in Tokyo, and losing it to Samoa Joe the following April at a live event in Lowell, MA.

Shayna Baszler will also defend gold on the telecast, putting her NXT Women's championship on the line against Rhea Ripley.
