Adrian Street Passes Away

Adrian Street has sadly passed away

British wrestling icon Adrian Street passed away on Monday, July 31 at Cwmbran's Grange University Hospital, his family confirmed to the BBC. His wife and longtime manager Miss Linda explained he passed away following multiple health issues. He was 82-years-old.

Miss Linda revealed that Street suffered from a stroke earlier this month that led to a bleed on his brain. While he recovered at home following surgery, Street developed colitis which turned into sepsis and ultimately led to his passing.

Growing up in the 1940s in Wales, Street made the decision not to follow his father down the mines and he decided to take up professional wrestling, initially performing as Kid Tarzan Jonathan in the late 1950s. He would later adopt his "Exotic" Adrian Street gimmick where he portrayed a glam rock character who teased he was homosexual. After receiving boos from the audience, he began to add to the gimmick, adopting glitter and putting his bleached hair into mini-pigtails. A couple of his signature moves also saw Street kiss his opponents and put makeup on them.

Street sang several glam rock songs, including 'Sweet Transvestite with a Broken Nose' and 'Imagine What I Could Do To You'.

Street would move to the United States in the 1980s where he wrestled in the territories. He would eventually retire from the squared circle in 2014.

Outside of the ring, Street ran a professional wrestling gear business and briefly a pro wrestling school in Florida. He and Miss Linda moved back to Wales in recent years and a film about his life, You May Be Pretty, was released in 2019.

Everyone at Cultaholic Wrestling extends their condolences to Adrian Street's family and friends.
