This past Tuesday night on October 6, 2026, AEW & WWE once again went head-to-head. This came due to AEW Dynamite’s Grand Slam: France episode coming one day earlier than usual, airing on Tuesday, meaning that it went up against WWE’s NXT brand, giving fans a reminder of the Wednesday Night Wars days (with losses in ratings wars ultimately leading to NXT moving nights). When it comes to the winner of this “battle”, both sides were happy.

According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE & AEW were satisfied with viewership figures. Over on the AEW side, there was happiness that there was an improvement and increase from their pre-emption last year, even though they didn’t reach their usual figures. Within WWE, NXT’s win was viewed positively, with it being noted that WWE internally touted the victory.

AEW & WWE have a history of going head-to-head with one another, mostly coming with WWE’s attempts to counter-program their rival promotion. The most recent instance of this came when WWE put the Worlds Collide event against All Out in the same city, though this didn’t stop an AEW sellout. WWE followed up by airing Worlds Collide against AEW’s PAC Tribute show.
