After recent reports had suggested that The Lucha Bros had signed with WWE, it was revealed the duo of Penta el Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix were still signed to All Elite Wrestling, with it expected the two will enter negotiations with WWE when their AEW deals expire.

However, whilst Penta is set to become a free agent when his deal expires in the next two months, it seems that Fenix is set to remain with AEW, with AEW exercising their right to add time onto the former International Champion’s contract due to time missed through injury.

Per a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW are set to tack on around a year onto Fenix’s deal, with the lucha star having missed significant time due to injury during his AEW run. Meltzer also suggests that AEW President Tony Khan had made significant offers to both Fenix and Penta to stay with AEW but both declined the new deals.

Penta has allegedly been talking about wanting to work more shows in Mexico before he eventually signs with WWE, realising that his opportunities to work on home soil will be all but eradicated should he go to WWE.
