AEW Announce Battle Of The Belts Special

AEW has confirmed that the Battle Of The Belts special show will take place on Saturday 8 January 2022. 

The promotion announced during this week's episode of AEW Dynamite that the Battle Of The Belts event would be shown live on TNT and emanate from the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Speculation mounted in early November that the first AEW special on TNT in 2022 would be in tribute to Battle Of The Belts, with the name originally coming from a series of supershows held by the NWA and CWF in the 1980s.

AEW President Tony Khan confirmed the reports earlier this month, announcing during a media call that the rumoured special would indeed be taking place in early January.

Battle Of The Belts is set for TNT on the week that AEW Dynamite will complete its move over to TBS. Rampage is set to remain on TNT, along with four annual AEW specials, of which Battle Of The Belts will be the first.

AEW’s next special, Winter is Coming, will be a Dynamite event held in Garland, Texas on December 15.
