AEW Continental Classic Winner To Become "Triple Crown Champion"

A new champion will be crowned in the Continental Classic

During the AEW Full Gear 2023 PPV last night, Eddie Kingston’s entry into the first ever AEW Continental Classic was announced, and he revealed that he would be putting up the ROH World Championship and the NJPW Strong Openweight Title up for grabs in every match he wrestles, with the winner emerging from the tournament as a “Triple Crown Champion” due to winning both these belts and a new “Continental Championship”.

In the Full Gear media scrum, Tony Khan clarified the details behind this, and explained that the winner of the Continental Classic would consolidate all three prizes into a “Triple Crown Championship” that will be defended across ROH, NJPW, and AEW.

More details were provided on the scoring of the Continental Classic, with match winners getting three points, and draws earning one point, in addition to there being no interference allowed in the tournament either. Mark Briscoe was another name revealed at the Full Gear event, adding to that of Kingston, Andrade El Idolo, and Bryan Danielson thus far.
