Update On Ronda Rousey's Status With AEW/ROH
Ronda Rousey is not All Elite
On Friday, Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance at a ROH taping, teaming up with Marina Shafir to take on Billie Starkz and Athena in a tag team match. It wasn’t initially clear what her status with AEW and ROH was, and whether this was just a one-off appearance.
Fightful Select has offered some clarity of Rousey’s current position in the professional wrestling world. As of this weekend, Rousey has not signed a deal with either AEW or ROH, and is instead just working on a handshake deal right now. Rousey’s dive into working on the independent scene and in ROH has seemingly come about due to her wanting to work with Marina Shafir, so it may not fit into her wishes to be signing with a new promotion.
It is also noted that an appearance like this from Rousey could drum up some Honor Club subscriptions. When it comes to the “blockbuster signing” of Will Ospreay at AEW Full Gear 2023, Rousey was never in contention for being the one revealed in that spot.
