AEW In Talks With Saraya Over Contract Extension
AEW in talks with Saraya over continuing her stay in the promotion
Aug 20, 2024
All Elite Wrestling could be set to re-sign a former AEW Women's World Champion.
According to Fightful Select, Saraya's contract with AEW runs until at least September and there are option years to extend the current deal. As opposed to activating the option years, however, the two sides have held talks over a contract extension that would see Saraya re-up with AEW for another year.
Saraya has been a part of AEW since 2022, making her debut at Dynamite Grand Slam. The 32-year-old then came out of in-ring retirement at Full Gear later in the year, defeating Britt Baker, and Saraya is a one-time AEW Women's World Champion, having won the title in front of her fellow Brits at All In 2023. Saraya's reign only lasted 44 days before she dropped the belt to Hikaru Shida.
Saraya has led a new version of The Outcasts consisting of Zak Knight and Harley Cameron in 2024. She has recently found herself in and around the AEW Women's World Title picture again and Saraya will challenge Toni Storm for the belt on Wednesday night in Cardiff, Wales.
While Saraya's future is uncertain, two talents that look set to exit AEW are Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix of the Lucha Bros, with the tag team expected to join WWE. It was noted in 2022 that the door was also open for Saraya to make her return to WWE with the previous regime under Vince McMahon having decided not to renew her contract.
