AEW Launching Romcom Series

Romantic comedies are enjoying a mini-renaissance in Hollywood following the success of Anyone But You and now All Elite Wrestling are looking to enter the same space.

The promotion has announced "Johnny Loves Taya", pro wrestling's first romcom series, will debut on AEW's YouTube channel on Valentine's Day (February 14). New episodes of the series will be released every Wednesday. 

The scripted series stars Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie, who have been married since 2018. They have been aligned across All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor TV in recent months, with Valkyrie recently losing to Deonna Purrazzo on Dynamite. Johnny TV, meanwhile, is in a programme with Dalton Castle.

That programme continued on last night's edition of ROH TV where Johnny TV was set to face Dalton Castle's 'friend' Hombre De Pavo Real De Montana. The friend was quickly revealed to be Dalton Castle, however, and Johnny TV will tell the former ROH World Champion what he wants in return for a match next week. 

Johnny TV debuted in AEW back in May 2022 and became a full-time member of the roster in June 2023 as part of QTV, a faction that has since dissolved.

Valkyrie signed with AEW in March 2023 following her departure from IMPACT Wrestling (now TNA), initially entering a high-profile programme with Jade Cargill.
