It is one of the most celebrated rivalries of the modern era, and now it seems that Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada could clash once more, but this time in an AEW ring.

Omega and Okada have not faced off in singles competition since 2018, when Omega finally defeated ‘The Rainmaker’ for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in a two-out-of-three falls match at NJPW Dominion. Whilst ‘The Cleaner’ has been out of action for all of 2024 with diverticulitis, a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that Omega is expected back ‘soon’ and the 'idea all along' is to build towards Omega vs. Okada V.

Okada signed with AEW in early 2024, and despite AEW and NJPW enjoying a healthy working relationship - with the upcoming Wrestle Dynasty show in the Tokyo Dome on January 5 2025 set to feature AEW and ROH talents alongside NJPW, STARDOM, and CMLL stars - such a marquee match would go down in an AEW ring.

Omega is set to return to NJPW as a guest for Power Struggle on November 4, and it remains to be seen if seeds will be planted for an imminent in-ring return.
