AEW Reaches Settlement In Luchasaurus Mask Lawsuit

There is no longer a dispute over Luchasaurus' mask

A lawsuit filed against All Elite Wrestling and Luchasaurus (real name Austin Matelson) has been settled.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics confirmed that AEW and Composite Effects (CFX), a Louisiana-based mask maker had reached a settlement in the lawsuit filed over the merchandising rights to Luchasaurus' mask.

Composite Effects filed the lawsuit against AEW and Luchasaurus in December 2022, claiming a copyrighted mask design was being used for merchandising purposes without their permission. It was stated that Luchasaurus could use his trademark mask for pro wrestling events but not in merchandise as CFX claimed they owned "licensing and design rights on all of our characters."

Luchasaurus' mask was a modified version of CFX's 'Viper Silicone Mask'. Horns were added in March 2019.

CFX were seeking profits that AEW and Luchasaurus had made from the mask design, as well as other damages and the covering of attorney fees. The terms of the settlement have not been revealed.
