Ricky Saints (FKA Ricky Starks) made his WWE NXT in-ring debut on Tuesday night as he teamed with Je'Von Evans against another AEW alumni in Ethan Page and Wes Lee.
NXT emanated from the Andrew J. Brody Music Center in Cincinnati on February 25 and the fans in attendance aimed chants at AEW CEO Tony Khan over his perceived misuse of Ricky Saints, shouting "Tony fumbled" during Saints' match. Saints would ultimately pick up the win for his team with a Roshambo to Wes Lee.
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful's The Hump, All Elite Wrestling "don't care" about the "Tony fumbled" chants on NXT.
"They don't give a f*ck, man. I don't know what to tell you guys. They don't care, like they don't care. I haven't heard one peep about it. I asked two people specifically and one person just sent an eye roll back. They were just like, 'Whatever, we've got a show tomorrow.' That's it," Sean Ross Sapp said.
Ricky Saints signed with WWE only days after he was released by All Elite Wrestling. Saints was previously featured on AEW TV and often pushed by the promotion as Ricky Starks from 2020 until March 2024, but the promotion stopped booking him as AEW believed he wanted to leave the company and join WWE.
Ricky Saints has been well received within the NXT locker room since signing with WWE and there has been no heat surrounding his meteoric rise on the brand.
