AEW Reportedly 'Cut It Close' In Getting Miro In As Jon Moxley Replacement
Miro faced Orange Cassidy in the World Title Eliminator Tournament
Nov 4, 2021
Miro took the victory in the main event of AEW Dynamite on Wednesday 3 November but a new report has suggested that the company 'cut it close' in terms of getting him to the show.
As previously noted, Miro was a late replacement in the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament for Jon Moxley, who Tony Khan revealed has entered himself into an inpatient alcohol treatment program. The former TNT Champion took on Orange Cassidy, claiming the win and setting up a bout with Bryan Danielson at AEW Full Gear next weekend.
According to Fightful Select, the final decision was made to put Miro in the match on Tuesday afternoon but, with the 35-year-old not originally booked to be at the show, the promotion had to move quickly in order to get Miro to the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Missouri.
The report goes on to say that Miro was flown in by AEW on Wednesday afternoon and arrived at the arena shortly before Dynamite went on the air. It is indicated that the company 'cut it close' in terms of timings.
Creative plans around Miro have also reportedly changed of late, but there is no further indication as to what those plans entailed.
