AEW Spanish Announcer Caught Mocking Asian Accent During Dynamite

Prior to Hikaru Shida's championship ceremony

AEW Spanish language announcer Willie Urbina was caught on a live mic mocking Hikaru Shida's accent during Friday night's episode of Dynamite.

The audio could be heard on FITE.tv's broadcast, during a commercial break. The dialogue occurred prior to the segment in which Shida was being honored for her one-year reign as AEW Women's champion.

Urbina and colleagues Alex Abrahantes, Thunder Rosa, and Dasha Kuret could all be heard in the dialogue. Abrahantes asked Urbina to translate for Shida in the upcoming interview, which prompted Urbina to do a mocking impersonation.

The following translation was provided by Luis Pulido of Fightful

---

Alex Abrahantes: "Do Shida." (As in translate her promo)

Willie Urbina: Speaks incoherently using a stereotypical accent.

Thunder Rosa: "Shut up, holy crap!" (Laughs)

Willie Urbina: Continues on with accent.

Thunder Rosa: "I will throw the pen at you if you don’t stop." (Said in a joking manner)

Dasha Kuret: "Stop it! You are mean." (Seemingly addressing Urbina, sounding crossed about it)

---

As of this writing, neither AEW, Shida, or anybody from the announce team have commented publicly about the incident, nor is there word on any actions taken.
