Bobby Lashley may be sitting atop the All Elite Wrestling tag team division with Shelton Benjamin, but AEW want to return to Lashley vs. Swerve Strickland in singles competition.

Lashley’s debut in AEW came as Strickland was clashing with The Hurt Syndicate, but after Lashley defeated Swerve at Full Gear in November 2024, the two went their separate ways, with Swerve entering into a feud with Ricochet.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggests that AEW are going to be resuming the Lashley vs. Swerve feud ‘in a few months’, with Meltzer adding that if that doesn’t happen then it would be ‘telling’.

Some have speculated on social media that Lashley wasn’t willing to lose to Strickland hence why the feud was abruptly cut, but there have been no reports to back this up.

Lashley and Shelton Benjamin won the AEW World Tag Team Championships from Private Party on the January 22 edition of Dynamite, only the second time in AEW that the two had teamed in traditional tag team action. So far Lashley has wrestled six times for AEW since joining in late 2024.
