AEW Talents Banned From Working Indy Shows Over WWE WrestleMania 41 Weekend
AEW talents not allowed to work indy dates during WWE WrestleMania 41 weekend
Jan 24, 2025
All Elite Wrestling talents have a lot of freedom when it comes to working independent wrestling shows, but it seems AEW stars will not be present at any events during WWE WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas.
Mania weekend has become a hub for wrestling companies from across the world, with dozens of shows running in the same city over the course of the weekend. Ring of Honor - AEW’s sister company - traditionally runs Supercard of Honor then but will not be doing so this year, and in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer states that ‘younger’ AEW talent are not permitted to work any indie dates over Mania weekend this year.
ROH Supercard of Honor was originally earmarked for Mania weekend in April, but for undisclosed reasons plans have been scrapped. ROH may still run a Supercard of Honor show in 2025, but either on a different date or in a different location. The show has been run on WrestleMania weekend dating back to 2006, with a few exceptions.
Other shows that run Mania weekend traditionally include GCW shows Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport and Joey Janela’s Spring Break, whilst in past years TNA and NJPW have held their cross-promotional Multiverse shows during Mania weekend.
