AEW Suspends Sammy Guevara Indefinitely Without Pay

For comments made about Sasha Banks in the past...

All Elite Wrestling has announced that Sammy Guevara has been suspended without pay for comments he made several years ago about WWE performer Sasha Banks.

The statement reads, "AEW insists on doing our part to create a world of understanding and respect for humankind. We therefore strongly condemn the extremely offensive and hurtful words of Sammy Guevara. As such, effective immediately, Sammy is suspended without pay until further notice. Sammy has agreed to undergo extensive sensitivity training and, upon completion, his future status within the company will be re-evaluated.

"During his suspension, his salary will be donated to the Women's Center of Jacksonville."

In 2016, Guevara made inappropriate comments about Banks on a podcast, saying, "Bro, Sasha Banks. When I was at WWE the other week (working as an extra), I wanted to just go and f--king rape that woman."

Guevara tweeted Monday that he apologized for his "...unacceptable comments." He personally spoke with Banks about the matter, adding, in part, "She’s an amazing person who didn’t deserve to be the brunt of my offensive remarks. I spoke with her earlier & she helped me learn a gigantic lesson & I thank her for that. Once again, I’m sincerely sorry."

Banks confirmed that the two had a discussion about the remarks in her own tweet, adding, "We all have to do better."
