AEW Talent Deflated By Bryan Danielson's Latest Injury

Bryan Danielson’s latest injury has affected AEW talent

Bryan Danielson is set to spend most of whatever’s left of 2023 on the injured list, after it was confirmed that the ‘American Dragon’ had suffered a broken orbital bone during his recent match with Andrade el Idolo.

The injury is not the first Danielson has suffered in 2023, and a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that Danielson’s lay off has affected portions of the AEW locker room.

Meltzer alleges that a ‘top name’ in AEW feels deflated by Danielson’s injury, noting how Danielson is very valuable to the company. The legendary former Ring of Honor World Champion is nearing the end of his time as a full-time in-ring competitor, and has taken up a greater amount of backstage responsibilities in AEW in 2023.

Earlier reports suggested that Danielson has become a trusted ear to AEW President Tony Khan, with Danielson bouncing ideas off of Khan, whilst having creative input in the company.

Whilst Danielson has undergone surgery on the orbital bone injury, there remains some optimism that he could return to the ring before the year is up.
