AEW Talents Very Unhappy About Mercedes Moné's Comments Over One Day Going Back To WWE

Mercedes Moné’s comments about going back to WWE have rubbed up some in AEW the wrong way

Prior to making her official All Elite Wrestling debut, Mercedes Moné was asked about about one day returning to WWE with the ‘CEO’ stating she believes she’ll be back in WWE one day.

Such is the nature of wrestling, Moné’s comments made their way to the AEW locker room ahead of her unveiling at AEW Big Business, and a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests the comments naturally upset some talents in the organisation.

Meltzer suggests that whilst Moné has every right to want to one day return to WWE, the timing and nature of her comments was not a wise move, and that those within the company already sceptical of her joining AEW would now be ‘more sceptical’.

AEW features many former WWE stars, such is the nature of the pro-wrestling industry. However, there is a perception that some ex-WWE stars are fully focused on AEW and building the company, whilst others are more concerned with using AEW as a place to make money before going back to WWE - the latter camp seen as a detriment to AEW.

Meltzer does suggest that these comments could easily be forgotten if AEW makes Moné a long-term valuable asset, but if and/or when Moné returns to WWE then ‘everyone will remember this statement’.
