AEW World Title Match At Forbidden Door 2024 Revealed

AEW World Title match set for Forbidden Door

Although "outside the box" ideas were reportedly considered for the AEW World Title match at Forbidden Door, All Elite Wrestling ultimately booked one of their current wrestlers to become the number one contender.

AEW held a Casino Gauntlet Match on the post-Double or Nothing edition of Dynamite for the right to face Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door. The likes of Jay White, PAC, Mistico, Shota Umino, Lio Rush, Claudio Castagnoli, Orange Cassidy, and Hechicero entered the Casino Gauntlet but it was Will Ospreay who walked away with the win following an Oscutter to Cassidy.

Dynamite went off the air with a staredown between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay. Forbidden Door will be held on Sunday, June 30 at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.

Forbidden Door will provide Ospreay with the opportunity to become a double champion. He captured the AEW International Title at Double or Nothing, defeating Roderick Strong for the belt.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is expected to feature promotions beyond All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, with CMLL talents and STARDOM wrestlers believed to be under consideration for the card.
