Future Plans For Vacant AEW TNT Title Revealed

AEW’s plans for vacated TNT Championship revealed

As a result of Adam Copeland breaking his leg at Double or Nothing on May 26, All Elite Wrestling have stripped ‘The Rated R Superstar’ of the TNT Championship, with the future of the title revealed on the May 29 edition of Dynamite.

AEW EVPs The Young Bucks attempted to crown Elite member Jack Perry as the new champion on a whim but were stopped by Christopher Daniels, with Daniels revealing that he has been made an interim EVP of the company by President Tony Khan.

Daniels instead revealed that a series of qualifying matches will take place across AEW television, with the winners going on to fight for the vacant title in a Ladder Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 30.

The first qualifier match announced will pit Konosuke Takeshita against Penta El Zero Miedo on the May 31 edition of AEW Rampage. No other competitors for the series have been announced at the time of writing, nor how many will compete for the title at Forbidden Door.

Updated card, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door June 30, 2024:

  • Swerve Strickland (c) vs. Will Ospreay - AEW World Championship
  • TNT Championship Ladder Match
