AEW WrestleDream Main Event Revealed?
It looks like AEW have decided on their WrestleDream main event
Sep 30, 2023
It looks as though another midcard AEW title will get the chance to close out an AEW PPV for the first time ever. Earlier this month at AEW All Out, Orange Cassidy defended the International Championship against Jon Moxley in the show-closer, and this time at AEW WrestleDream, it will be the TNT Title’s turn.
On Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage, Darby Allin cut a promo on his upcoming 2-out-of-3 falls match against Christian Cage for the TNT Championship, and he noted that he was ready and looking forward to main eventing his first AEW PPV. Unlike WWE, AEW doesn’t often promote shows with “multiple main events”, so this likely means that this bout will in fact close out the show.
With no AEW Women’s World Title or AEW World Championship on the card for the second PPV in a row, it opens the door for a new belt to be in that position. This will be Darby Allin’s very first PPV main event, and it will mark Cage’s second. With talk ramping up about Edge’s AEW debut, his old partner and best friend closing out the show could be yet another hint towards that being a reality.
