Report: AEW Talent Pushed To Sign Released WWE Wrestler
Wrestlers in AEW want a released WWE superstar to join their ranks
WWE engaged in a string of releases last week for the first time since 2021, and this batch of firings saw some experienced names let go. Former Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Champions Shelton Benjamin was one of them. Even though he has only just been let go from WWE, he has supposedly had supporters in AEW for quite some time.
According to a report from Fightful Select, there were some incorrect rumours of his WWE contract expiring some time ago, and when they emerged there were multiple talents pushing AEW to make an approach for Benjamin and to sign him. At the time though, his WWE contract still had some time on it.
The report states though that with his release, “Shelton Benjamin has had numerous talent hoping that he’ll join the company in some capacity.” AEW are reportedly looking to add more producers to their team, so Benjamin could be a potential target for that side of things given his age and experience in the business.
