AJ Styles Makes Surprise Appearance During AAA's Main Event

The main event of AAA TripleMania 33 didn’t feature a big crowning moment or new champion from the WWE roster, as El Hijo Del Vikingo retained the AAA Mega Championship, much to the chagrin of the AAA faithful. Despite the popularity and star power that both Dominik Mysterio & El Grande Americano have over in the Mexican promotion, they couldn’t get the job done… and it was all thanks to AJ Styles. 

The latter stages of the match saw Mysterio use a steel plate in a mask to take out both Dragon Lee and ally El Grande Americano, and looked set to make history with a title win after going for his signature splash. 

The former WWE World Champion made his presence known with a surprise appearance in the main event, going after current rival Mysterio and costing him the match, laying him out with a Styles Clash, continuing their feud after Mysterio defeated Styles at SummerSlam. This allowed Vikingo to nail a 630 Splash to get the job done and walk out as champion. This marks Styles’ first AAA appearance since all the way back in 2013 when he defended the TNA World Title against El Mesias, who was also on the TripleMania card last night.
