Alexa Bliss had been absent from WWE programming ever since the Elimination Chamber 2025 premium live event on March 1, where she would come up short when battling for a world title match at WrestleMania 41. Bliss made her initial return to WWE programming at the 2025 Royal Rumble event following reports of a contract stand-off, before ultimately agreeing to a new deal with the promotion.

In the lead up to WrestleMania 41 she was once again absent from television, with it being reported that WWE were waiting to have her appear again until the Wyatt Sicks faction were also ready for a comeback, as other reports had suggested that Bliss could end up being their new leader.

On last night’s May 9 episode of Friday Night SmackDown SmackDown, Bliss didn’t come back with the Wyatt Sicks, but instead appeared as the mystery tag team partner for new United States Champion Zelina Vega, defeating the pairing of Piper Niven and former US Champion Chelsea Green. Later on in the show, Bliss would confront a fuming Charlotte Flair, offering her a talk.
