Andrade El Idolo's AEW Deal Believed To Be Expiring Soon, Returning To CMLL Now In Case He Goes Back To WWE

Could Andrade El Idolo head back to WWE when his AEW deal expires?

Andrade El Idolo reportedly believes his contract with All Elite Wrestling is expiring in the near future and a return to WWE is an option for the former WWE United States Champion. This is one of the reasons behind Andrade's impending return to CMLL, according to Dave Meltzer.

"His deal is coming up relatively soon unless it's extended or something because of time off for injuries or whatever. But he thinks his deal's up pretty soon so he wanted to go back [to CMLL] in case he ends up going to WWE. He's not made a decision what he's doing next. He's not signed a new deal but if he does go to WWE he knows he can't go back to Arena Mexico... My impression is it's up relatively soon," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Andrade signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2021 but he quickly became unhappy and actually tried to get fired in October 2022 by sucker punching Sammy Guevara backstage at an AEW Dynamite taping. The punch resulted in Andrade being sent home and he was out of action anyway until June 2023 with a torn pectoral muscle.

Andrade has referenced WWE since coming back to AEW TV, even using his wife Charlotte Flair's Figure Eight to win matches.

El Idolo is currently a part of the AEW Continental Classic in the Blue League. He will take on Bryan Danielson on Saturday night's edition of AEW Collision, which was taped on Tuesday night.
