Andrade El Idolo’s status in All Elite Wrestling has been under question for some time, with it widely reported that the former NXT Champion was looking to get out of the promotion back in 2022.

Ahead of the recent Worlds End pay-per-view on December 30, 2023, speculation was rife that the show could mark Andrade’s last appearance for AEW, with El Idolo losing to Miro in singles competition on the show. Since Worlds End, Andrade has taken to social media, confirming his departure from AEW, and thanking those within the organisation:

“I want to thank you for this time that I belonged to the company @aew and above all to Tony khan I also want to say goodbye to all the talent, security people, cameramen, referees and everyone who works in the company for being part of my time in AEW. kenny, young bucks, tazz, Shiavone, Aubrey, Jerry, Hobbs, hook, Kingston, Ricky, Orange, thunder, jack Perry, Austin, Colten, Sonjay and many more that I can name, also how to forget all the Mexicans (todo el relajo) I enjoyed sharing the ring with STING, PAC, Darby, García, Jay and many more. I would have loved to face MOX, Page, Hobbs, Ricky, Dante, Cage, Dustin. Thank you AEW AND Thank you to all the fans for your support always. I wish you the best always,” wrote Andrade.

AEW President Tony Khan noted in the post-Worlds End media scrum that Andrade's contract was expiring at the end of 2023.

Andrade joined AEW in 2021, debuting on Dynamite on June 4. He was suspended by the organisation in Autumn 2022 for his part in a backstage scuffle with Sammy Guevara.
