Asuka Taking Time Off From WWE

Asuka taking hiatus from WWE

Asuka is set to take time off from WWE in order to heal her knee, with the former WWE Women’s Champion having worked through knee issues for the past two months.

Taking to her KanaChanTV YouTube channel, Asuka said the following about her current condition:

“After the Backlash of my European tour, I had to take a break to treat my knee that I had been hurting for a while,” Asuka wrote in the video. “My partners Kairi [Sane] and Dakota [Kai] helped me a lot during this tour as I could not move at my best. I am very grateful to both of them.”

The ‘Empress’ initially hurt her knee in March and was removed from WWE house show duties, but returned ahead of WrestleMania XL. Asuka then worked until Backlash in Lyon on May 4, where she and Kairi Sane dropped the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.

Asuka was initially set to compete in the Queen of the Ring tournament, but was withdrawn from the pool and replaced by Damage CTRL partner Dakota Kai. Kai subsequently lost her first round match to Lyra Valkyria.
