Backstage Details On Tessa Blanchard's TNA Return

It was reported yesterday that TNA were bringing back former men’s and women’s world champion Tessa Blanchard, who was fired from the company over four years ago amidst a wave of controversy, backstage issues, and more. It was noted that Blanchard is expected to work with Jordynne Grace ahead of Grace’s deal expiring, with her likely leaving for WWE. 

Blanchard returned as soon as last night’s Final Resolution event, showing up to attack Jordynne Grace and being greeted with a less than warm response from the TNA audience. 

Fightful Select have offered up more details regarding Blanchard’s TNA signing, including backstage talk and the reason behind bringing her in. Talent in TNA (and those spoken to in WWE and AEW) are reportedly baffled by this decision to sign Blanchard, given her history. TNA reportedly feared backlash, leading to the company keeping this news silent from the current roster and even many of the backstage staff. Fightful has also said that Grace has “pushed back” on working with Blanchard. 

When it comes down to the decision behind Blanchard being signed, it is noted that a top name at Anthem was behind this call. A source in TNA has revealed that the idea to bring Blanchard in is due to the company wanting to sign some major names ahead of big exits such as Grace, Josh Alexander, and ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, the latter of which has been slated to be joining AEW.
