Backstage Details On Universal Championship Match At WWE WrestleMania 37 Reportedly Emerge

The Triple Threat Main Event has earned high praise

Roman Reigns retained the Universal Championship against Edge and Daniel Bryan in a thrilling Triple Threat Match in the main event of WWE WrestleMania 37, and now more details as to the circumstances and production of that bout have reportedly emerged.

Fightful Select is reporting that, despite a number of matches at WrestleMania having their endings changed at late notice, the plan for the Universal Championship match from early on in the story being developed was Roman Reigns retaining his championship.

The decision to add Daniel Bryan to the match, which originally was set as a singles match between Reigns and Royal Rumble winner Edge, was set in stone the week of Fastlane last month, but discussions over turning the bout into a three-way dance had been ongoing for well over a month prior to that.

Michael Hayes was the credited producer of the match while Paul Heyman was also instrumental in the creative process around the bout and storyline. Edge and Bryan also contributed heavily with the entire match said to be a big collaborative effort.

Fightful would also note that the sources they spoke to say the WrestleMania 37 main event was exceptionally well received backstage in WWE with Reigns in particular getting very good reviews from his peers and management for his performance.
