Backstage News On Bryan Danielson's Full-Time Career Ending
More details on the future of Danielson's AEW career
Oct 13, 2024
At WrestleDream 2024, Bryan Danielson lost to Jon Moxley, not only dropping the AEW World Championship, but also taking one step towards retirement as his full-time in-ring career came to an end. It has been known for some time that Danielson’s full-time run in AEW was finishing this year, and it is now official.
Fightful Select have offered some more details on this situation. Danielson will be stepping away from the ring for the time being, legitimately needing neck surgery - something he has openly discussed in recent months. Additionally, Fightful Select notes that Danielson is now technically a free agent, after not competing with a talents contract in AEW for a while. He has reportedly mentioned that he doesn’t see himself heading back to WWE, and those in AEW expect him to stick around to undertake obligations outside of the ring, and to wrestle sporadically.
Danielson has been known to have been suffering from various injuries in the lead up to WrestleDream, and Fightful’s report has noted that Danielson has regretted wrestling in so many matches prior to the PPV, struggling through several. He has been cleared by AEW to wrestle, but he was stopped from competing inside Blood & Guts earlier this year.
