Jon Moxley Wins AEW World Title, Ends Bryan Danielson's Full-Time Career At WrestleDream

Jon Moxley is the new AEW World Champion, after defeating Bryan Danielson in the main event of AEW WrestleDream on Saturday night in Tacoma.

During the final sequence, Danielson tried to immediately power up after Moxley hit a Death Rider, but could barely stand. Defiantly, he spit at Moxley and smacked him. Moxley followed up with another Death Rider, and a Gotch piledriver, before applying a rear-naked choke, to which Danielson passed out.

With the loss, Danielson's full-time career as a wrestler ends.

After the match, Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, and Marina Shafir (who had been ejected earlier in the match) came to the ring. Shafir handed Moxley a plastic bag, to which Wheeler Yuta and Darby Allin hit the ring to run them off. However, when Darby held Moxley at bay with a chair, Yuta suddenly hit Allin with a charging knee.

Moxley then handed the plastic bag to Yuta, who suffocated Danielson with it. Allin was tied to the corner ropes while Moxley and the others fought off intervening security guards, Private Party, Jeff Jarrett, and others.

With everyone else wiped out, Castagnoli wrapped a chair around Danielson's neck and hit a leaping stomp on it. A horde of individuals then ran off the entire BCC. The pay-per-view ended with Danielson being loaded onto a backboard and stretcher, while fans chanted "Thank you Bryan".

Moxley is now a four-time AEW World Champion, extending his mark for most reigns in company history (CM Punk is the only other multi-time men's world champion, with two reigns). His first three reigns combined for 347 days (second most behind MJF's 406).

Danielson's reign as AEW World champion ends at 48 days. He won the title from Swerve Strickland in a "Title vs. Career" match at AEW All In: London on August 25 at Wembley Stadium.
