Konosuke Takeshita celebrating his AEW International Title win with Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher at WrestleDream

Konosuke Takeshita is the new AEW International champion, after defeating champion Will Ospreay and fellow challenger Ricochet in a three way match at AEW WrestleDream on Saturday night in Tacoma.

Late in the match, Takeshita took Ricochet out with a tombstone off the apron through a table. Back inside, Ospreay hit Takeshita with two Hidden Blades and had him pinned, but Don Callis pulled referee Stephon Smith to the floor.

Callis then tried to attack Ospreay with his screwdriver, but Ospreay stopped him. Ospreay then tried for a Tiger Driver 91 on Callis, before Kyle Fletcher (obscured by a hoodie) hit the ring and turned on Ospreay, hitting him with the screwdriver. Takeshita then pinned Ospreay with his Zahi charging knee strike. After the match, Fletcher dropped Ospreay with his own Tiger Driver 91.

This is Takeshita's first championship in AEW. After making a one-off appearance in the spring of 2021, Takeshita officially signed with AEW the following year.

Ospreay's second reign as International champion ends at 48 days. He won the title from MJF at AEW All In: London on August 25 at Wembley Stadium.
