On the 5-Year Anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite, Daniel Garcia made his return to AEW programming for the first time since All Out 2024 to announce that he was pledging his future to AEW. It soon emerged that he had re-signed to the company in a deal which reportedly sees a significant pay rise for the young star. This came after months of speculation on his future, and interest from those in WWE.

He wasn’t originally slated to return on Dynamite, as original plans, per Fightful Select, saw him make his comeback at last night’s WrestleDream 2024 PPV. At the event, Garcia emerged following the TNT Championship match between Jack Perry and Katsuyori Shibata, saving Shibata from a post-match attack by the champion. As Garcia stood tall in the ring, MJF’s music hit, marking his return to AEW too. MJF had been out ever since he defeated Garcia at All Out, which was followed up by Garcia issuing a brutal beatdown of his rival.

Before MJF could stand tall, Adam Cole also returned to AEW, reigniting his feud with MJF. The original plans would’ve seen a triple return at WrestleDream for Garcia, MJF and Cole. AEW instead opted to bring Garcia back prior to this show, and save the PPV for a double comeback.
