At the 2024 WrestleDream PPV, The Young Bucks defended the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Private Party, winning the match after several back and forth sequences, near-falls, and a crowd who steadily got more and more behind the team of Zay and Quen. Despite flurries and a growing support, Private Party came up short to The Bucks, as Matthew and Nicholas Jackson continued their tag team reign, which stretched to over 171 days following this victory.

According to Fightful Select, there were some people in AEW who were pushing for a win for Private Party over this past week, which would have seen the pair win their first gold in AEW since debuting five years ago. The pair had an underdog storyline heading into the PPV, seeking redemption from not achieving their potential, especially after an early victory over The Bucks which should have turned them into stars. Ultimately, those in power did not opt for a Private Party win, even with the push from those backstage.

It remains to be seen if Private Party will bounce back and go on to eventually defeat The Bucks for the gold.
