Backstage News On MJF's AEW Double Or Nothing Return

Everything you need to know about MJF's AEW Double or Nothing return

Having been out of action since December's Worlds End pay-per-view, MJF made his return at Double or Nothing on Sunday night with a leather jacket/denim vest combo reminiscent of 2002 Triple H.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman made his return by interrupting an Adam Cole promo and he briefly teased a reunion with his former best friend, only to lay out Cole with a Brainbuster. MJF then cut a promo, declaring himself 'The Wolf of Wrestling' before he revealed he wasn't "f*cking leaving." MJF also unveiled an AEW tattoo that he had inked on the back of his calf.

Fightful Select reported that plans for MJF's return had been in motion for some time and Double or Nothing had long been the target for his comeback. Friedman was suffering from several injuries when he stepped away at Worlds End and rumours in recent weeks had suggested he underwent shoulder surgery. If MJF actually had surgery is unknown, though, and Friedman told some in the industry that he wore a shoulder brace in recent weeks to help throw people off about a return at Double or Nothing.

The plan for Friedman's return was for him to fly to another city and then be driven to Las Vegas for Double or Nothing. A PWInsider Elite subscriber spotted MJF sitting in first class with his girlfriend Alicia Atout on a flight from JFK Airport in New York City to Phoenix, Arizona.

All Elite Wrestling have big plans for MJF following his return and he is planned to be involved in a "top feud", according to Fightful. Friedman is also signed with AEW long-term on a multi-million dollar deal that makes him one of the promotion's top earners
